Using the Wetlands as a place of inspiration, the workshop will explore how nature and green spaces should be used to remind humans of the cyclical and seasonal nature of time.

After the Enlightenment project (town planning, civic mechanisation, human progress) and the grand modern theories of the 20th Century (Communism, Fascism, Growthism) we have hit a crisis (the Broken Spring'); very few of us can really align ourselves to a 'correct' course of action. However, there might just be a way out of this rat-race - though engagement with spaces such as the Wetlands, we can consider how the seasons and nature will carry on regardless of how much or how little we do to change the world. It is bigger than us and it should leave us in awe. Should the roof come down on human civilisation then its ruins will house the grass, moss, trees and wetlands of the future: with or without us.
